Who We Are

Sunrise Movement Orlando is a youth-led community and climate advocacy group fighting for bold economic and environmental change. With corporations and special interests dominating our politics and putting our future at risk, we’re creating a culture of Orlando over profit.

Our goals as an organization are:

1. Winning Green New Deal policies.

2. Ending the rule of out-of-touch, bought and paid-for politicians.

3. Giving power back to the people.

4. Making Orlando the beautiful, bold, and green city it was always meant to be.

If you live in Orange County there will be 3 county charter amendments 8,9 & 10 that work towards establishing a rural boundary in Orange County. - #8 makes it harder to develop in natural lands. #9 establishes a rural boundary that makes it harder to develop in rural lands and goes in tandem to protecting natural lands. #10 makes sure developers can’t use loopholes to build in the rural boundary. - A rural boundary is a commonly used policy that makes it more difficult to build in rural and natural land. Many metropolitan cities in Europe and Asia have some sort of rural boundary and this allows for development to be focused in the urban core, allowing for denser communities where walkability, bikeability & public transit is more feasible. Let’s change the way Orlando develops from sprawled, car-dependent and far away to more a close-knit community where you have diverse transportation options and your needs, friends & family are close by!
